Oakland Section 8 Feedback Meeting on Direct Rental Assistance Program

Wednesday, May 28, 2025
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM (PDT)

Event Details

This meeting an important opportunity to help shape a new pilot program being developed by the Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) to support Section 8 renters—and they want to hear directly from you.

What is it?

OHA is preparing to launch a Direct Rental Assistance (DRA) pilot program that would provide rental subsidies directly to eligible residents. To ensure the success of this initiative, they are seeking feedback from a diverse group of approximately 20 rental housing providers who currently rent to Section 8 participants—or who are interested in becoming Section 8 providers.

  • This is an in-person meeting
  • Food and refreshments will be provided

We are inviting property owners, large and small, to participate in an in-person roundtable meeting hosted at the EBRHA office in Oakland. This is a unique opportunity to provide input on critical elements of the program, including:

  • Administrative processes
  • Payment timelines
  • Flexibility for owners and property managers
  • Enhancements to the overall rental experience for both providers and renters

We’re pleased to introduce Dr. Ellen Robertson, Research Associate at OHA, who is leading this owner engagement effort. Dr. Robertson will be facilitating the meeting and gathering input to ensure the DRA program reflects the real-world needs and priorities of local rental housing providers.

Your experience and insights are essential to making this program effective and accessible—and your voice can directly influence how this pilot is shaped.

If you’re interested in participating, please sign-up using the button below and we will contact you directly to find out if you are a good fit. Space is limited, and we are aiming for a diverse cross-section of participants from across the Oakland rental housing community.

Thank you for your continued commitment to providing quality rental housing in our communities—and for helping EBRHA advocate for practical, impactful housing solutions.
